What is Counselling?Perhaps you, or someone close to you, would like help because you feel distressed, isolated, helpless or burdened. Counselling provides a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings.
A counsellor is trained to listen with attention, understanding, and the ability to reflect in a non-judgemental way. It is important when you feel in need of counselling help, you can find someone you can trust and is professionally trained. Good counselling is associated with reputable training institutions who s standards and qualifications are recognised by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy(BACP).
What Conditions Can it Help?Counselling may help with a wide range of issues such as, relationship or work related stress, loss and bereavement, anxiety and depression, self harm (or self defeating behaviours) and low self esteem to name a few.
We also offer specialist counselling for a range of problems including anger, and sexual deviation.
An assessment consultation lasts at least one hour when we may be able to give you an indication of the time needed and likely benefit of counselling.
Counselling is a collaborative venture between client and therapist that depends upon a free exchange of thoughts and feelings. Some clients may be talking about their fears and worries for the very first time, so it can take a while to develop trust that allows you to talk freely and in turn begin to benefit from the process.
